For Parents

Referral for Special Education Services: Any individual (ie: parent, teacher, principal) suspecting that a child is having difficulty in the regular classroom and could possibly benefit from special education, should initiate a referral for possible testing by contacting the building principal.  Every effort will be made to assist the child at the building level.  If strategies fail, permission for testing will be sought.  Any questions in this regard, please contact the Director at 219-865-1171

Siblings Are Special Too! workshop was fun for all!  On April 6th, West Lake Special Education Cooperative conducted its spring workshop called "Siblings Are Special Too!". The workshop is for siblings of students with special needs in the Lake Central and School Town of Munster school districts. The workshop is to help siblings, ages 6-12, better understand their brother or sister’s disability by being able to share their feelings as well as having fun activities to do. Many of the children who attend participate in both the fall and spring sessions and have a lot of fun, as it shows in the pictures. The workshops are presented by Lucy DiMichele, Social Worker, and Reyne Plesha, Home/School Facilitator.
